FCA reiterates: FTX is not regulated in the UK

The UK financial markets regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), today issued a notice to FTX clients.

The FCA said: “We recognize that FTX’s UK clients will be concerned by the news that the company has filed for insolvency in the United States and entered provisional liquidation in the Bahamas, and further details will be announced to FTX clients in the coming days.”

The FCA emphasized that any FTX client with financial problems can get free, unbiased financial guidance from Moneyhelper.

As early as September this year, the FCA had already issued a warning against FTX, saying that the company provided services in the UK without the necessary authorization.

Again, the FCA said: “In the UK, regulation of cryptoassets is limited to the registration of UK-based cryptoasset exchanges for anti-money laundering purposes. As such, FTX is not authorized, regulated or registered by the FCA.”
