Clearstream sells 50% stake in REGIS-TR to SIX

Clearstream announced today that it is selling its 50% stake in the European trade repository REGIS-TR to its joint venture partner Iberclear, part of SIX. As a result of the transaction, SIX is taking full control of the business.

The decision to sell was made as part of Clearstream’s continuous strategic review of its business portfolio. Future strategic efforts will focus on growing custody services and to further strengthen the company’s leadership position in funds services in-line with the Compass 2023 strategy.

Stephan Leithner, Clearstream Chairman and member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse AG, said:

“In the course of nearly eleven years, REGIS-TR has evolved into a great success story in the European trade repositories market, with a compelling and well-established offering. We are very proud of what we have achieved together with our partner Iberclear and we wish them continued success.”

Javier Hernani, Head Securities Services & member of Executive Board, SIX, added:

“We are very happy to now fully integrate the REGIS-TR business, which has already been an integral part of BME’s business portfolio. We look forward to taking the business into its next phase of development within SIX. We are delighted to now fully welcome the entire REGIS-TR team and their talent and expertise to SIX.”

The transaction was signed today and is expected to close in the first half of 2022. Financial terms of the acquisition are not disclosed.
